Altruist is an AI-powered platform transforming wealth management for independent financial advisors. The company operates a regulated broker-dealer and clearing platform on AWS, serving thousands of advisors nationwide.
As the first dedicated Senior Network Engineer, you will own the complete network architecture and operations for a multi-region AWS environment handling sensitive financial transactions. This is a foundational role where you set standards rather than inherit legacy systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and maintain multi-region AWS network architecture (Transit Gateway, VPC topology, address-space strategy, routing across production and clearing environments)
- Implement network segmentation to isolate workload, corporate, and partner traffic using Terraform and GitOps
- Lead the transition to zero-trust/SASE access models with application-level controls and device posture requirements
- Partner with Security to translate threat models into durable network designs meeting regulated-industry standards
- Manage partner connectivity (site-to-site VPNs, BGP peering, AWS Direct Connect circuits to financial counterparties)
- Own office and edge networking, including ISP redundancy and standards for new locations
- Define network observability, serve as senior escalation point for incidents, disaster recovery, and cross-region failover
- Apply AI-native approaches to network operations using agentic workflows for audit, drift detection, and configuration analysis
- Provide technical leadership through standards documentation, design reviews, and mentoring
Required experience: 7+ years in network engineering with 3+ years in cloud-native environments. You must have owned production networks, not just operated tickets. Deep AWS networking expertise (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, Route 53, PrivateLink, security groups). Strong fundamentals in routing, BGP, IPsec, TLS, DNS, DHCP. Hands-on experience with network segmentation and traffic inspection. Zero-trust/SASE experience (Zscaler, Netskope, or Prisma preferred). Terraform and IaC proficiency with scripting ability (Python, Bash, Go).
Hybrid role requiring three days per week onsite in San Francisco FiDi or Culver City office.
