Oura is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Data Scientist to join its health sensing team. The role focuses on developing and commercializing cutting-edge machine learning models and algorithms that leverage wearable health data to help members detect and understand illness. This is a highly independent position where you will own projects end-to-end, set your own technical direction, and partner directly with product and engineering teams. Key responsibilities include: - Develop and deploy advanced machine learning pipelines and models for innovative illness detection features, with emphasis on time-series analysis and robust validation - Drive commercialization of ML models by collaborating with scientists, product managers, software developers, designers, and test engineers - Design and execute rigorous statistical analyses for model performance evaluation and monitoring - Conduct independent exploratory research to identify and characterize novel health sensing features, translating proof-of-concept ideas into scalable products - Identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities and drive them from open question to shipped capability with minimal direction - Monitor and improve algorithm performance in production at scale using large-scale member data - Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences Required qualifications: - PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or related field, plus 3+ years of industry ML/data science experience - 5+ years of advanced programming in Python and SQL - Extensive experience with machine learning and statistical modeling techniques including deep learning, time-series analysis, and signal processing - Demonstrated full-lifecycle experience developing and commercializing ML models - Proven ability to operate independently, define roadmaps, and unblock yourself without waiting for direction - Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences - Domain knowledge in illness, infection, or immune response physiology and experience with wearable health data are significant pluses Oura is a rapidly growing healthtech company with 2.5+ million users of its award-winning Oura Ring.
