Modern Intelligence builds Sovereign, edge targeting software for unmanned systems (UAVs, USVs, UUVs, and other unmanned vehicles). The software runs on vehicle computers, detects and classifies targets from onboard cameras, maintains tracking through signal loss, and enables terminal guidance. It operates without GPS and under radio jamming. The company has held Department of War contracts with Air Force Special Operations and SOCOM, and has raised over $12 million from investors including Bedrock, Vine, Contrary, and Air Street. You will own how Modern Intelligence presents itself across all marketing mediums: video, social media, print, trade-show booths, events, and overall design. You'll use AI tools heavily for research, drafts, edits, and creative options to move faster, while maintaining judgment about when human review is required. As a small, fast-moving team, you will produce a large share of work yourself initially, with the expectation that you'll take on broader ownership as you demonstrate ability to set narrative and creative standards. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years in marketing, brand, demand generation, or go-to-market at a B2B, hardware, defense, or deep-tech company (agency experience on the client side also counts) - Proven experience briefing and managing external creatives: agencies, freelancers, or production partners for video, design, or events - Strong written voice: ability to translate technical product language into clear customer-facing copy - Hands-on experience with video and social media (edit or produce short-form content, post and iterate), plus comfort with web/landing pages, event/booth collateral, and basic campaign operations (calendars, asset management, deadline tracking) - Heavy daily use of AI tools for research, drafting, editing, creative iteration, and production speed, with judgment on when to ship versus when human review is needed - Portfolio or work samples demonstrating shipped campaigns or assets, not only strategy documents - Ability to travel for events, demos, and customer/partner moments - Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to work with export-controlled technology and controlled messaging - Full-time in-office presence in Austin if located there PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience marketing autonomy, robotics, aerospace, and defense technology - Direct ownership of trade-show booths and materials - Direct ownership of field-demo presence - Experience building or running a small vendor roster (video, design, print, social) - Comfort working with founders or technical leaders as primary story owners - Familiarity with marketing on LinkedIn, X, and in defense/industry events - Product and design taste - Prior in-house marketing roles with leadership or stretch-leadership experience - Experience with CRMs or light marketing ops tools (Resend, Clay, Attio, or similar) - Existing relationships with creative or production partners you would bring into the fold
