Pilot is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting to lead the company's revenue accounting function for a rapidly growing Series C SaaS organization. This role owns the end-to-end revenue lifecycle, including contract review, Zuora billing, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, SSP analysis, month-end close, reconciliations, revenue reporting, and cash-related processes. Key responsibilities include owning the Order-to-Cash (O2C) process by partnering with Sales, Deal Desk, RevOps, Legal, Billing, AR, FP&A, and IT to ensure deals are structured correctly and controls exist at each stage. You will serve as the accounting subject matter expert for Salesforce and Zuora, establishing controls, resolving discrepancies between systems, and ensuring accurate billing and revenue configuration. The role requires ownership of monthly revenue close activities including journal entries, deferred revenue reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting to senior finance leadership. You will own SSP methodology and documentation under ASC 606, prepare technical accounting memos for complex transactions, and drive automation and system improvements across the SFDC-Zuora-ERP-Revenue-Cash pipeline to reduce manual work and spreadsheet dependency. Building and maintaining internal controls for revenue and O2C processes, and supporting annual audit and SOX readiness, are critical components. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with hands-on SaaS systems experience. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred), 6+ years of progressive revenue/technical accounting experience including leading a SaaS revenue function, and 3+ years of Big 4 experience preferred. Deep knowledge of ASC 606, SaaS subscription revenue models, and close/controls management is essential. Hands-on experience with Zuora and Salesforce is required, with familiarity with NetSuite/QuickBooks and FloQast/BlackLine preferred. Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills and clear communication with senior stakeholders are expected. Pilot, founded in 2017, brings the back office into the modern era by providing small businesses with dedicated finance experts and custom software. The company has over 3,000 customers and has raised over $170 million from top-tier investors including Sequoia, Index Ventures, Stripe, and Bezos Expeditions, achieving unicorn status at a $1.2 billion valuation. The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week in office (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays).
