Checkout.com is a global fintech payments platform powering over 10 billion transactions yearly for companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony. This newly created Senior Manager role sits at the centre of the company's most sensitive regulatory moments, reporting to the Director of External Affairs.
The role combines two connected mandates. First, you will own Checkout's regulatory inspections and examinations end-to-end across the group's regulated entities—acting as the single accountable owner for all inspections, skilled-person reviews, and examinations. You will run each inspection as a programme: set strategy and narrative, build and manage timelines, coordinate evidence gathering, quality-assure submissions, and prepare senior stakeholders for regulator engagement. You serve as the primary point of coordination between the business and regulators, protecting the company's position by controlling disclosures, safeguarding confidential supervisory information, and ensuring the executive team and boards are informed at critical moments. You will drive continuous improvement through post-mortems after each engagement.
Second, you will lead the response to exceptional, time-critical situations carrying material regulatory, financial, or reputational risk. You bring structure to ambiguity by establishing facts, setting out risks and options for senior decision-makers, securing decisions, assigning actions, and maintaining momentum until resolution. You work in close partnership with the Director of External Affairs on the most sensitive matters.
Third, you will build this new function from the ground up—establishing the operating model, creating playbooks, and hiring and developing a small team of specialists throughout 2027.
You bring significant experience managing regulatory inspections and engagement, ideally within payments or fintech. You are methodical and meticulous in project management, keep calm under pressure, and are highly responsive and solutions-oriented. You are commercially pragmatic, weighing regulatory and reputational risk against business objectives with considered judgment. You have excellent stakeholder management skills—credible with regulators and auditors, trusted by executives, and effective at mobilising colleagues across functions and geographies. You have people management experience or clear readiness to build and lead a team. Your written communication is impeccable.
