You will build and lead Wealth.com's People Operations function with an AI-native approach from the ground up. The goal is to create a world-class operation that remains under 3% of company headcount even as the organization scales. You will own the complete employee lifecycle—from offer acceptance through offboarding—and lead critical conversations with managers and employees. Key responsibilities include: - Employee Relations: Own performance conversations, documentation, improvement plans, investigations, and exits end-to-end. Coach managers through difficult situations and escalate appropriately to senior leadership or outside counsel. - Payroll, Benefits & Leave: Run payroll across US and international teams. Manage benefits administration with brokers and 401(k) providers. Oversee leave administration with particular attention to accuracy and employee support during vulnerable moments. - Program Rollouts: Ensure compensation decisions, promotions, performance cycles, and benefits changes flow correctly through all systems, paychecks, and employee communications. - Compliance: Manage multi-state and international employment compliance, contractor classification, I-9 verification, and required training tracking. - HRIS Ownership: Lead Paylocity implementation and maintain it as the system of record for employee data, roles, compensation, and reporting relationships. - Onboarding & Offboarding: Execute flawless onboarding and offboarding programs consistently. - Automation & Efficiency: Build automated systems that connect payroll, benefits, leave, and onboarding while maintaining a personal employee experience. Systematically retire manual work weekly. The role emphasizes using AI and automation to handle repetitive tasks, freeing you to focus on high-touch employee relations and strategic HR work. Success in 12 months means zero day-one failures, perfect leave administration, trusted Paylocity implementation, managers equipped to handle difficult conversations with proper documentation, and a documented list of manual processes automated. Requirements: - 6+ years in People Operations or HR, with substantial hands-on experience at a fast-growing company - Demonstrated experience running payroll, benefits, and multi-state leave for distributed teams; ability to discuss what broke and how you caught it - End-to-end ownership of employee relations cases with documentation that would withstand scrutiny - Track record of earning manager trust and being their first call before problems escalate - Experience implementing HRIS or payroll systems and maintaining data integrity post-launch - Builder mindset: you've created automations yourself and can demonstrate one; you design systems to eliminate recurring questions - Judgment under pressure: reputation for making sound decisions in high-stakes situations; ability to say no to anyone, including the CEO, with confidence - Genuine passion for building and caring about the person behind every ticket - Nice to have: international payroll or employment experience
