Ontic is seeking a Senior Manager of Frontend Engineering to lead and scale the frontend engineering function across multiple teams. You will own technical strategy, architecture, and delivery for a modern React/TypeScript frontend platform serving Fortune 500 companies and federal agencies in security operations.
In this role, you will define frontend technical direction and architecture standards, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, performant, accessible, and maintainable. You'll lead architectural reviews, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive solutions for technical debt and performance bottlenecks. You'll establish clear delivery plans, milestones, and accountability mechanisms across multiple frontend teams or pods, balancing delivery commitments with technical investment and organizational priorities.
You'll build and develop high-performing frontend teams, coach emerging technical leaders, own performance management and career development, and drive structured hiring and succession planning. Strong cross-functional partnerships with Product, Design, Security, and Platform teams are essential—you'll translate product strategy into feasible technical execution and communicate priorities and risks clearly across leadership levels.
You'll establish standards for accessibility, performance, reliability, testing, and frontend security. You'll drive improvements in Core Web Vitals, browser compatibility, error monitoring, and production reliability. You'll promote scalable testing strategies and improve developer experience through shared tooling, CI/CD, documentation, and automation.
Required: 10+ years software engineering experience with substantial frontend work and 3+ years leading engineering teams. Deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, React, and modern frontend practices. Strong experience designing frontend architectures for large-scale SaaS applications, component systems, design systems, state management, and build tooling. Proven ability to hire, coach, and retain senior talent. Experience with cross-team planning, delivery management, and stakeholder alignment.
