Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is seeking a Senior Manager of Finance and Strategy to lead financial planning and analysis for the Research & Development organization. The company is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform that enables organizations to harness IoT data to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability across physical operations including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing.
In this role, you will serve as the primary finance lead for R&D, partnering directly with C-level executives on budget trade-offs, headcount decisions, and infrastructure investments. You will own comprehensive FP&A responsibilities for R&D and Supply Chain Operations, including monthly budget-versus-actual reviews with VP-level leaders, quarterly reforecasts, and annual operating plan development across Software, Firmware, and Hardware Engineering, Product Management, and Supply Chain Operations.
Key responsibilities include forecasting and controllership across Samsara's largest cost drivers: COGS and gross margin, hardware costs, employee expenses, total compensation economics, and AI infrastructure spend. You will build scalable financial processes and leverage AI tools to automate reporting, accelerate analysis, and deliver real-time visibility to R&D leadership. Additionally, you will hire, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of corporate finance, FP&A, or strategic finance experience, plus 3+ years of people management and development experience. You must demonstrate strong financial modeling and analysis capabilities, cross-functional collaboration skills, and excellent communication and presentation abilities for senior management audiences.
