The Financial Crimes Compliance team builds and oversees Airwallex's global financial crime framework spanning AML/CTF, sanctions, risk assessment, FCC operations, monitoring, testing, and investigations. This team collaborates closely with Product, Operations, Risk, Regulatory Legal & Compliance, and regional Money Laundering Reporting Officers (MLROs) to ensure controls are well-designed, practical, and effective as the company scales globally.
As Senior Manager, FCC Monitoring, you will lead the development and execution of the monitoring program providing independent oversight of Airwallex's global financial crime compliance framework. You'll assess program effectiveness, identify gaps and emerging risks, and translate findings into clear, actionable business recommendations. This is a high-impact individual contributor role offering significant autonomy and direct influence on regulatory confidence and banking partner relationships.
Key responsibilities include: assessing ongoing effectiveness of the Group Financial Crime Program across governance, risk assessments, monitoring frameworks, issue management, and regulatory reporting; building and embedding risk-based monitoring approaches across EWRA, TMP, ECDD, and SMRs; monitoring adherence to AML and sanctions obligations across key jurisdictions; delivering clear reporting to senior leaders and Board stakeholders on program effectiveness and remediation progress; and partnering across FCC, MLRO, Risk, Legal, Product, Operations, and Technology teams to strengthen the program.
You bring 10+ years of experience in Financial Crime Compliance, AML, sanctions, or financial crime risk management in global financial institutions, fintech, payments businesses, or regulatory environments. You possess deep understanding of global AML and sanctions frameworks across US, UK, EMEA, Australia, New Zealand, and APAC. You have proven experience building or running monitoring programs and improving financial crime compliance framework effectiveness. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills enable you to work effectively with senior executives, regulators, and global business leaders on complex matters. You demonstrate strong judgment, independence, and attention to detail, managing your own workload effectively in fast-moving environments.
Preferred qualifications include experience with Group/Regional/Country MLRO functions, governance committees, and regulatory engagement; background in global fintech, payments, digital banking, or fast-paced financial services; risk and controls expertise with practical program assessment skills; executive-level reporting and governance escalation experience; and professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or equivalent.
