Anthropic is seeking a Security Controls Assurance Lead to own the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 control environment as the company prepares for public markets. You will be the technical voice defining IT General Controls (ITGCs) requirements across logical access, change management, computer operations, and program development for financially significant systems.
Key responsibilities include: defining control requirements and acceptance criteria for SOX in-scope systems before go-live to prevent retrofitting; pressure-testing infrastructure and system changes for SOX impact during design; standing up continuous controls monitoring and automated evidence collection to reduce audit prep time; driving remediation of control deficiencies with engineering partners; assessing scope changes (new products, entities, systems) through a SOX and compliance lens; and maintaining alignment across SOX, SOC 2, ISO 27001/42001, and other frameworks to ensure controls are designed and evidenced once.
You will partner closely with Internal Audit, external auditors, Engineering, and Finance leadership. The role requires deep technical fluency—you should be able to read code and Terraform, follow CI/CD pipelines end-to-end, and challenge system designs on technical merit. You will own control design methodology and continuous monitoring as a product, initially for ITGCs but extending into broader security and compliance domains.
This is a high-impact role at a critical juncture: you are building the control framework that will underpin Anthropic's public company compliance posture. You thrive in hypergrowth environments, make decisions with incomplete information, and excel at cross-functional collaboration.
