Lambda is a leader in AI cloud infrastructure serving tens of thousands of customers globally, from AI researchers to enterprises and hyperscalers. The company's mission is to make compute as ubiquitous as electricity and democratize access to superintelligence. As Senior Manager of Detection and Response, you will report directly to the CISO and lead Lambda's Detection & Response team—the security operations backbone protecting invaluable training data, model weights, and sensitive inputs across the platform. Your mandate is to transform reactive security operations into a proactive threat management engine that catches security issues in real-time while enabling hypergrowth velocity. You will build and scale a high-performing team dedicated to automation, threat hunting, and capability building rather than constant firefighting. Key responsibilities include establishing 24/7 operational coverage, implementing enterprise-grade detection capabilities, automating incident response workflows, and hardening multi-cloud and bare metal infrastructure. You'll define threat management frameworks, architect incident response processes, and pioneer AI-powered security solutions using direct access to Lambda's hosted LLMs—capabilities unavailable elsewhere. Team leadership is central: you'll hire and develop senior engineers, establish blameless post-incident culture, create sustainable on-call rotations, and build career development paths. You'll also drive cross-functional collaboration with Product and Platform teams, translate technical incidents into business impact for executives, and establish data-driven insights to guide preventative control investments. Success requires 10+ years of security experience with 5+ years leading technical teams independently. You should demonstrate proven ability to build security programs from the ground up, establish automation-first cultures, understand cloud infrastructure provider security requirements, and create sustainable team environments where senior engineers thrive long-term. Strong judgment in security response, proportional decision-making, and track record of translating technical work into business outcomes are essential.
