As Senior Manager of Data Engineering, you will own the data platform that powers Farther's technology-driven wealth management operations. This includes the security master, custodial data pipelines, and canonical financial models that every downstream system depends on. The platform is already in production; your mandate is to scale it significantly: define the roadmap, execute end-to-end, grow the team, and expand platform capabilities across the firm—including AI systems built on top of it.
Key responsibilities:
- Own and execute the data platform roadmap from custodial ingestion through security master to AI-ready data products
- Lead and grow the data engineering team, setting technical quality standards
- Own the firm's security master: reference data, corporate actions, and golden-source resolution across multiple custodians (Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, etc.)
- Design canonical data models unifying accounts, positions, and transactions across custodians
- Drive data quality, reconciliation, lineage, and governance across regulated datasets
Required experience:
- 8+ years in data platform roles with 4+ years managing data teams
- Deep security master experience with instrument reference data, corporate actions, and multi-vendor golden-source resolution
- Prior experience on data teams at broker/dealers
- Exceptional data modeling skills—schemas that are correct, extensible, and built to last
- Strong hands-on expertise with PostgreSQL, AWS, and Python
- Builder's mindset energized by scaling strong foundations into category-defining solutions
Technical stack: PostgreSQL, Python, SQL, AWS (S3, Lambda, ECS Fargate, Glue, Athena, Step Functions), Parquet-based data lake, infrastructure-as-code (CDK), CI/CD-driven delivery, and AI/agent integrations (Anthropic, AWS Bedrock).
Bonus qualifications include experience running global/distributed data teams, bitemporal or point-in-time financial data modeling, data governance and fine-grained access control, and supporting AI/ML systems with production data products.
