Zapier is seeking a Senior Manager of Build Operations to lead the operational function that surfaces insight, accelerates delivery, and reduces operational drag across engineering and product teams. You will manage a team of four (one L4 TPM, two ops individual contributors, and a contractor) and partner across the organization to drive adoption and alignment.
Your core mission is closing gaps in how work gets prioritized, decided, and run across Build—reducing financial exposure, unblocking build velocity, and establishing continuity in operations. You'll restore execution capacity on P0 workstreams blocking Finance and Build leadership, design and socialize the operating model Build runs on, and build a connected visibility layer that provides a live, auto-generated view of what's shipping and where work overlaps. You'll extend this shared framework to go-to-market teams so the entire company operates from one source of truth in consistent language.
Key responsibilities include: owning P0 workstreams and driving them to completion; providing the operational layer needed to execute strategy; designing operating models that teams actually adopt; building and scaling visibility tools showing shipping status and ownership risks; routing cross-team dependencies to accountable owners; driving adoption through enablement and training; partnering with Build and GTM leadership to spot gaps and secure resourcing; building trust with senior leaders; securing headcount and stabilizing platforms; documenting operational decisions and trade-offs; and identifying AI-powered tools to increase team efficiency.
You'll operate in a fully remote environment and work with modern operations tools. The role requires comfort with ambiguity, fast-paced change, and the ability to influence without relying on title.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Has been the operational backbone of an engineering or product organization—restored execution on stalled work, stood up operating rhythms, and earned trust of senior technical leaders
- Experience running cross-functional programs spanning multiple teams or organizations, not just managing work within a single team
- Proven ability to translate technical or engineering concepts into language and frameworks non-technical audiences can use and own
- Strong project and program management fundamentals: comfortable with project plans, milestones, dependency tracking, risk management, and change documentation
- Ability to partner across functions and influence without relying on title; can hold a room and drive alignment in complex settings
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and fast-paced change; thrive when scope isn't fully defined
- Experience securing buy-in and resourcing from senior stakeholders on programs not yet fully scoped or understood
- Familiarity with modern operations tools and willingness to microlearn new systems; deep technical expertise not required
- Experience embedding AI into team workflows and processes, not just using it for personal productivity
Education is not a requirement; however, if an offer is extended, you will need to provide your most recent educational experience as part of the background check process.
