Fin is an AI Customer Agent company building the highest-performing AI customer support agent on the market. The Machine Learning team is responsible for defining new ML features, researching algorithms, and rapidly prototyping solutions that ship to customers. This is a product-focused team that partners closely with Product and Design to move from offline testing to production in weeks.
As a Senior Machine Learning Scientist, you will identify areas where ML creates customer value, frame product problems as ML challenges, and conduct exploratory data analysis and research. You'll work with teammates and cross-functional stakeholders to deeply understand problem areas, research and select appropriate algorithms and tools, and balance pragmatism with cutting-edge innovation. You'll perform offline evaluation to validate algorithmic approaches, collaborate with engineers to bring prototypes to production, and measure real customer impact.
Key responsibilities include: identifying ML opportunities, framing problems correctly, conducting EDA and research, understanding problem domains deeply, selecting algorithms and tools, performing offline evaluation, working with engineers on production deployment, planning and measuring outcomes, and partnering across teams to build excellent ML products.
You should have 3-5 years of applied ML experience with broad knowledge across supervised models, unsupervised clustering, and transformer neural networks. Strong practical statistics knowledge (experiment design, confounding variables), intermediate programming skills, and excellent communication across engineering and non-technical disciplines are essential. Advanced education in ML or a related field (e.g., MSc) is typical. Bonus qualifications include a track record shipping ML products, PhD or research experience, deep expertise in NLP, deep learning, Bayesian methods, reinforcement learning, or clustering, strong math/stats background, and data visualization and SQL skills.
