Veeam Software, a market leader in data resilience and data security posture management, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its growing legal team and support the global sales organization. This is a commercially focused role requiring strong partnership with Sales, Deal Desk, Revenue Operations, and other business stakeholders to provide pragmatic legal advice while identifying, assessing, and managing legal, regulatory, and commercial risks.
You will act as a trusted adviser to the business, helping stakeholders navigate complex customer negotiations while exercising sound judgment regarding risk. The role requires understanding when to find creative solutions to move discussions forward and when to escalate, challenge assumptions, or recommend alternative approaches to protect the company's interests.
Key responsibilities include building trusted relationships with sales and business teams; leading the review, drafting, and negotiation of commercial agreements (SaaS, BaaS, software, professional services, channel partnerships, and NDAs); providing practical, commercially focused legal advice while identifying and communicating material legal, regulatory, privacy, and commercial risks; developing defensible solutions to complex contractual issues; anticipating and proactively addressing potential contractual, legal, or operational issues; supporting the development of contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and legal processes; and delivering training programs to promote best practices.
You will bring 10-15+ years of post-qualification legal experience, including significant in-house experience, ideally in software, SaaS, or cloud technology companies. Strong commercial contracts background, excellent drafting and negotiation skills, and demonstrated ability to advise business stakeholders in a practical, commercially focused manner are essential. Experience supporting sales organizations, advising on privacy and data protection issues in commercial technology transactions, and managing high volumes of complex matters is required. The ideal candidate is proactive, self-motivated, demonstrates sound commercial judgment, and can explain complex legal concepts accessibly to diverse stakeholders.
