Kela Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to build and own the company's regulatory compliance function. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will take ownership of complex, high-stakes regulatory matters with direct impact on Kela's ability to operate globally.
Key responsibilities include:
• Build, own, and maintain compliance procedures and programs across the business, ensuring the company meets regulatory obligations in every territory it operates in.
• Assess regulatory requirements for market expansion (marketing, sales, manufacturing, employment) and provide strategic input to the business before entering new territories.
• Own the company's export control compliance, including licensing processes and approvals with Israel's Defense Export Control Agency (DECA) and compliance with U.S. and international export control regimes (ITAR, EAR).
• Manage due diligence processes for vendors, business partners, and counterparties.
• Conduct risk assessments across the business to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory exposure.
• Design and deliver employee training on regulatory topics, embedding a culture of compliance across a fast-moving organization.
This is a hands-on role for a senior lawyer who can be a true business enabler at the intersection of law and technology. As Kela grows from a breakout startup into a global leader in defense technology, you will ensure the business can move fast while moving right. The role requires deep expertise in export controls, international regulatory frameworks, and the ability to navigate complex compliance landscapes in the defense sector.
