Jane App, a high-growth SaaS company serving the healthcare clinic market, is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its small but mighty Legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will provide hands-on legal advice across a broad range of areas including commercial contracts, healthcare and privacy regulation, litigation risk, employment law, and corporate governance. You'll work collaboratively with Product, Partnerships, People, Marketing, and Finance teams to enable faster decision-making and product delivery while managing legal risk. Key responsibilities include reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements (MSAs, partnership agreements, vendor terms, NDAs, BAAs); advising on employment law and litigation strategy; handling law enforcement and regulatory requests; advising on IP protection and brand enforcement; and building collaborative relationships across the organization. You'll communicate legal impact in practical, business-friendly terms and help scale the Legal function's use of AI tools for contract review, document management, and automated intake. You should have 7+ years of legal practice experience, including in-house work at high-growth technology companies. Bar admission in Canada (Ontario or BC preferred) is required; US bar admission is a plus. You must have established expertise in at least 3 of the following: commercial contracts, privacy regulation, healthcare regulation, litigation risk, employment law, and corporate governance, with the ability to develop expertise in the remaining areas. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills, comfortable with AI and technology in legal work, and ideally has experience building legal processes or working across multiple jurisdictions including Canada and the US. You'll mentor others on the team and contribute to scaling legal operations as the company grows.
