PPRO is a global payments platform enabling major companies like PayPal, Stripe, and Microsoft to connect with billions of consumers worldwide. In this Senior Legal Counsel role, you will serve as a key strategic advisor on the full product lifecycle for PPRO's payment products, with particular focus on digital assets, stablecoins, and AI-driven features. Your responsibilities will span: **Core Responsibilities:** - Advise on product development from conception through global launch and scaling, including digital asset and stablecoin initiatives - Review and negotiate commercial agreements, partner contracts, and agreements tied to new product development - Draft and maintain customer-facing legal documents for new products, including terms and conditions and disclosures for AI-driven features - Provide regulatory advice on product features, new payment method onboarding, and market expansion (including cross-border data flows, data protection, and payment services regulation) - Advise on legal and regulatory questions specific to digital assets and stablecoins: e-money and payment services classification, custody, cross-border transfer rules, and emerging digital asset regimes - Act as the company's expert on AI, including agentic AI, covering liability, governance, data use, AI tool contracting, and emerging regulatory frameworks - Conduct horizon scanning for legal and regulatory developments and support implementation of required changes - Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to embed legal thinking into product lifecycle and go-to-market planning - Improve legal and governance processes, including exploring how AI tools can enhance the legal team's efficiency - Advise on ad hoc legal matters ranging from IP to corporate law and disputes - Liaise with external counsel and translate their advice for business implementation **Requirements:** - UK or EU qualified lawyer with 8+ years of experience in financial services, payments, and/or technology sectors - Strong mix of regulatory, privacy, and commercial legal experience - Genuine, hands-on experience with payments and digital assets, including stablecoins - Real depth of knowledge on how AI, including agentic AI, is reshaping products and regulation - Good working knowledge of financial regulation, including payment services regulation across the UK and EU - Strong experience advising on data protection and privacy (UK GDPR, EU GDPR, cross-border data transfers) - Genuine comfort with technology; ability to engage in technical detail with engineers and follow technical conversations - Comfort working in ambiguity and independently identifying mitigations, not just risks - Ability to translate complex legal or technical issues into plain English - Strong sense of ownership and drive to push complex legal matters to completion - Open, flexible, team-oriented approach with excellent communication skills **Workplace & Benefits:** Hybrid role with 3 days/week on-site expectation at London HQ (Procter Street, near Holborn). 28-day holiday allowance plus up to 30 days/year work-from-abroad policy. £1,000 annual L&D budget, BUPA health insurance, 5% pension matching, enhanced family leave, workplace nursery scheme, gym membership contribution, mental health platform access, and pet-friendly office.
