Altruist is transforming wealth management by building an AI platform for financial advisors. This senior IT engineering role owns the design, implementation, and operation of core internal systems including identity, endpoints, corporate applications, and networking infrastructure.
You'll lead technical projects end-to-end—from scoping and design through pilot, rollout, and handoff. Key responsibilities include implementing and maintaining SASE and zero-trust controls, building automation and AI-assisted workflows to eliminate manual work, evaluating and implementing new tools, and serving as the senior escalation point for complex issues. You'll strengthen security and reliability across the environment through access controls, patching, and monitoring, while defining technical standards and runbooks that make work repeatable.
Required experience includes 7–10 years in IT engineering or corporate infrastructure with demonstrated end-to-end ownership in large or fast-growing organizations. You need hands-on expertise in endpoint engineering (macOS and Windows, MDM, fleet-scale configuration), identity platforms (Okta, Google Workspace, or similar IdP systems with SSO, SCIM, lifecycle automation), and corporate networking (Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, SASE, conditional access, device trust).
Critically, you bring an AI-native approach to the work—already using AI for coding, troubleshooting, and automation—backed by real scripting ability (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and API comfort. Strong people skills and a service mindset are essential; you handle complex escalations with patience, clarity, and genuine care.
Nice-to-have experience includes financial services or regulated environments (SOC 2, FINRA/SEC), supporting 500+ endpoint fleets or rapid headcount growth, standing up core IT systems, building internal tooling or AI-assisted IT workflows, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week in the San Francisco office.
