Chainalysis is seeking a Senior Intelligence Analyst with deep Iran expertise to lead the company's attribution and threat-finance analysis on Iranian cryptocurrency activity. You will own end-to-end intelligence production on how Iran, the IRGC, and Iranian proxies use cryptocurrency to raise, move, and launder value beyond traditional financial systems.
In this role, you will become Chainalysis's subject-matter expert on Iran crypto threats, responsible for:
- Owning Iran attribution across the full threat landscape: Iranian exchanges, IRGC financing, proxy and Shia militant finance (Hezbollah, Houthis, Iraqi militias), sanctions-evasion infrastructure, state-linked cyber operations, and commodity-for-crypto flows.
- Leading rapid attribution responses to OFAC and allied sanctions designations, turning regulatory actions into on-chain coverage.
- Mapping Iranian actor networks on-chain, tracing value flows through VASPs, regional exchanges, mixers, no-KYC swaps, mining operations, and off-ramps.
- Producing finished intelligence: advisory notes, customer briefings, and contributions to flagship publications (Crypto Crime Report) that make Iran threats actionable.
- Representing Chainalysis externally as the named expert on Iran crypto threats at conferences, in media, and in briefings to government and private-sector partners.
- Setting the Iran collection agenda, surfacing data requirements and feeding them into the team's collection and prioritization process.
- Translating Iranian methods into detection guidance for products and customers.
- Designing and tuning AI automation to scale analysis and handle edge cases.
- Raising the bar on Iran and threat-finance tradecraft across the team.
You will work with a globally distributed team of analysts, threat-domain SMEs, data scientists, and engineers, collaborating asynchronously and in real time across time zones. The role is a depth position: while other analysts cover the breadth of crypto services, you go deep on Iran—becoming the industry authority on how Iranian actors exploit cryptocurrency.
Required qualifications include deep, demonstrable Iran expertise (IRGC, IRGC-Qods Force, proxy networks, sanctions evasion, illicit finance, procurement systems), on-chain tracing ability against Iranian targets, and a national-security or threat-finance background. You should have direct experience following Iranian crypto activity on-chain or deep Iran threat-finance expertise paired with proven blockchain-tracing skills.
