Chainalysis is seeking a Senior Intelligence Analyst with deep Iran expertise to lead the company's attribution and intelligence work on Iranian crypto activity. This is a specialized, high-impact role on the Global Intelligence Team—the group that produces the on-chain attribution data underlying all Chainalysis products and used by investigators, sanctions authorities, and national-security agencies worldwide.
You will own Iran attribution end-to-end: mapping how the IRGC, Qods Force, Iranian proxies (Hezbollah, Houthis, Iraqi militias), and state-linked cyber actors use cryptocurrency to raise, move, launder, and cash out value beyond traditional financial systems. Your responsibilities include:
- Owning the complete Iran crypto footprint: Iranian exchanges, OTC/no-KYC networks, IRGC and proxy financing, sanctions-evasion infrastructure, ransomware operations, and oil/commodity-for-crypto schemes.
- Leading rapid attribution responses when OFAC or allied authorities designate Iranian entities, turning designations into live coverage in Chainalysis data.
- Mapping networks on-chain: tracing Iranian actors through VASPs, regional exchanges, mixers, mining operations, and off-ramps, keeping the picture current as tactics evolve.
- Producing finished intelligence: advisory notes, customer briefings, and contributions to flagship publications (Crypto Crime Report) that make Iran threats actionable.
- Representing Chainalysis externally as the named expert on Iran crypto threats at conferences, in media, and in briefings to government and private-sector partners.
- Setting the Iran collection agenda: surfacing data gaps and feeding intelligence requirements into the team's collection process.
- Translating Iranian methods into detection logic that products and customers can operationalize.
- Designing and tuning AI automation to scale your analysis and handle edge cases.
- Raising the bar on Iran and threat-finance tradecraft across the team.
You'll work with a fast-moving, globally distributed team of analysts, threat-domain experts, data scientists, and engineers across time zones. The role demands deep, demonstrable Iran expertise—command of the IRGC, proxy landscape, sanctions evasion, and illicit-finance systems—paired with proven on-chain tracing ability or blockchain expertise you can apply immediately to Iranian targets.
