Chainalysis is seeking a Senior Intelligence Analyst to serve as the company's subject-matter expert on North Korea (DPRK) and China crypto threats. The role is part of the Global Intelligence Team, which produces attribution data connecting on-chain cryptocurrency activity to real-world entities—the core intelligence moat underlying all Chainalysis products used by investigators, sanctions authorities, and national-security agencies.
The DPRK and China represent the highest-stakes domains in crypto intelligence. North Korea's Lazarus Group has stolen billions through exchange hacks, DeFi exploits, and IT-worker schemes to fund weapons programs, then laundered proceeds through mixers, cross-chain bridges, and Chinese OTC networks. China sits at the center of global crypto money laundering, from guarantee marketplaces and underground banking to scam compounds and cartel-linked operations. These threats are deeply intertwined and represent one of the most consequential problems in crypto intelligence.
As the DPRK and China SME, you will own this problem end-to-end. While other analysts cover the breadth of crypto services, you will go deep on this single, high-stakes domain, becoming the recognized expert inside Chainalysis and across the industry on how these actors use cryptocurrency. Key responsibilities include: owning attribution for DPRK and Chinese crypto footprints (Lazarus Group, state-sponsored theft, IT-worker networks, OTC/underground banking, guarantee marketplaces, scam-compound laundering, fentanyl vendors); leading rapid attribution responses to sanctions events; mapping illicit fund flows through mixers, bridges, and off-ramps; producing finished intelligence for customers and flagship publications; representing Chainalysis as the external expert at conferences and in media; setting collection priorities for the domain; translating threat typologies into product detection capabilities; designing AI automation to scale analysis; and elevating team tradecraft on DPRK, China, and money-laundering broadly.
You will work with a fast-moving, globally distributed team of analysts, threat-domain SMEs, data scientists, and engineers across time zones. The role requires deep, demonstrable expertise in DPRK state-sponsored crypto operations and/or Chinese-language money laundering ecosystems, combined with proven on-chain tracing ability against these targets.
