Built is an AI-powered platform transforming real estate finance and construction management. The company powers over $300 billion in annual capital for 340+ lenders, including 45 of the top 100 U.S. banks. Built's software governs how capital moves through construction projects via AI-driven draw management, portfolio risk tools, compliance workflows, and banking system integrations. The Marketplace team is expanding Built beyond workflow software into adjacent services—inspections, appraisals, insurance, materials sourcing—operating as a newly independent business unit. The team moves fast: standing up new products with real customers, building durable platform infrastructure, and optimizing products already in market. As a Senior Innovation Engineer on Marketplace, you'll contribute across three core areas: (1) designing and building reusable platform primitives like purchase orders, contract terms, invoicing rails, and workflow orchestration using microservices and tools like Temporal; (2) building prototypes and MVPs for new marketplace products, working directly with customers to validate ideas and iterate weekly; (3) supporting quality and adoption on launched products—improving workflows, fixing friction, and raising usability standards. You'll also work on AI-native development: building agent harnesses and LLM-integrated workflows, extracting and reasoning over unstructured documents using document-extraction tooling and models like Claude, Gemini, and OpenAI. You'll participate in customer discovery, synthesize findings for product and engineering leadership, and partner with staff engineers on system design. This is a hands-on individual contributor role—not people management—though you'll mentor newer engineers as you grow into more ownership. You'll own well-scoped pieces of work with support from staff engineers and your manager, rather than driving entire initiatives end-to-end alone. The team is tight-knit, experienced, and collaborative, with a strong culture of mentorship and code review.
