Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to own and scale manufacturing simulation capability across the organization. This role sits within the Manufacturing Design Team and is responsible for building discrete event simulation and operations-research systems that serve as long-lived, decision-grade assets for the company.
The Manufacturing Team designs and builds cutting-edge defense hardware—including static equipment, ground vehicles, sensors, undersea systems, and flight vehicles—and scales production across Anduril's footprint, including the new 5M sq ft Arsenal-1 facility. Industrial Engineering delivers simulation both as an internal service and as part of the manufacturing line design process (MDP), creating validated models that quantify capacity, identify constraints, stress-test production plans, and evaluate design and capital-investment trade-offs before physical implementation.
This is not a one-off modeling role. The successful candidate will demonstrate holistic ownership of factory simulation as a durable asset that lives for years, absorbs new data as production systems evolve, and is trusted by leadership for real capital, capacity, staffing, and ramp decisions. The role operates in two modes: first, as a central service with intake and prioritization systems fielding requests for capacity studies, scenario analysis, and production risk modeling; second, as an integrated step in the MDP process, working with Layout and Labor Standards teams to model line designs, identify bottlenecks, and validate production system performance before build.
Key responsibilities include architecting discrete event simulation and operations-research capability for maintainability and extensibility; building and managing the simulation intake and prioritization process; defining how simulation is used at varying levels of NPI maturity within the MDP process; and working closely with material flow, layout, labor standards, supply chain, engineering, quality, program management, and business operations teams.
The manufacturing environment is multi-variant, relatively low-volume, and runs on shared resources under fluctuating demand, evolving designs, and constrained supply chains—conditions where traditional capacity math breaks down. The role requires someone who thrives in fast-paced, resource-limited environments, is flexible to change and ambiguity, and can act as connective tissue among operational stakeholders to bring production systems forward.
