Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to join its Manufacturing Team at the Costa Mesa facility. The role focuses on developing simulation and optimization models to predict and improve manufacturing process behavior, driving real-world operational adaptations across Anduril's 5M sq ft manufacturing facility (Arsenal-1).
You will own the design and optimization of production lines and workstation layouts for both low-rate and full-rate production using data-driven approaches. Key responsibilities include capturing current processes into 3D simulation-based virtual factory models, creating feasible production schedules and plans, and maintaining an adaptive digital reference model for the factory and supply chain. You will proactively identify high-variation processes, bottlenecks, and imbalances caused by line layout, equipment constraints, staffing, and other production inputs, then drive resolution with cross-functional stakeholders.
The role requires translating production metrics and KPIs—such as cycle time, throughput, capacity utilization, and first-pass yield—into actionable improvements. You will collaborate end-to-end with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Business Operations teams to drive operational improvements as Anduril scales next-generation defense products. This position demands holistic ownership of operational challenges in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment with flexibility to navigate ambiguity.
Required: 8+ years in fast-paced manufacturing; experience with discrete event simulation software (Plant Sim, ProModel, FlexSim, Simio) OR object-oriented programming (Python, R, C++, Java) OR SQL/NoSQL; ability to read technical documentation (facility/assembly drawings, specs, procedures); U.S. Secret security clearance eligibility.
Preferred: Bachelor's in engineering; experience designing/setting up new production lines or factories; Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma expertise.
