Salary: USD 110,000 - 220,000 / annual
Formlabs is seeking a Senior Industrial Designer to join its Industrial Design team in Somerville, MA. The company builds 3D printing technology that powers innovation across industries, serving over 50,000 leaders worldwide including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA.
In this role, you will design new products from concept through production, developing design concepts with clear visual communication and compelling storytelling. You'll prototype continuously—from quick mockups to refined cosmetic models—and test designs with users to translate feedback back into the design process. You'll help define and refine the hardware user experience across the entire customer journey, from unboxing to maintenance, and create high-quality CAD to communicate design intent. You'll collaborate closely with Product, UI Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to develop well-balanced solutions, and assist with cosmetic specification and validation.
The Industrial Design team enables accessible and productive experiences for users while communicating the brand's values through beautiful, functional products. You'll work with an interdisciplinary team of designers, engineers, and scientists to significantly impact a rapidly emerging class of products.

**Requirements:**
- Portfolio of relevant design work (required)
- University degree in Industrial Design
- 3–5 years of design experience in high-tech industries, ideally within electromechanical systems, consumer products, or robotics
- Demonstrated capability in aesthetic decision-making and attention to detail
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills
- Ability to communicate quickly and effectively with hand sketches
- Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD, Keyshot, and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Comfortable prototyping using a variety of methods
- Experience solving problems with engineering and manufacturability constraints
