Coram AI is a VC-backed AI and computer vision company transforming video security for enterprises, critical infrastructure, and public spaces. The company has raised $65M in funding, is already revenue-generating, and is scaling across the U.S., UK, and India.
You will be the Senior HR Manager responsible for owning and scaling HR operations as Coram grows. This is a broad, hands-on leadership role spanning the full employee lifecycle—not a specialized function. You will inherit existing HR infrastructure and programs, quickly assess what's in place, and refine and scale them as the company expands.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own day-to-day HR operations across all locations
- Manage and develop a small HR team of 2–3 people, potentially distributed across multiple countries and time zones
- Oversee payroll, benefits, compliance, employee relations, and employee administration
- Own and refine performance management processes, including performance cycles, feedback, manager enablement, and performance improvement plans
- Partner with leadership on compensation reviews, adjustments, promotions, leveling, and organizational changes
- Advise managers on employee relations, performance concerns, and complex people matters
- Ensure HR policies and practices remain compliant across U.S. states and international markets
- Collaborate with Finance, Recruiting, and leadership on headcount planning, onboarding, offboarding, and people initiatives
- Evaluate and optimize the HR technology stack, leveraging modern systems, automation, integrations, and AI-enabled tools
- Use HR data and employee feedback to identify trends and inform leadership decisions
- Build scalable HR processes without unnecessary bureaucracy
- Remain hands-on and willing to dive into details when needed
The role is based in Sunnyvale, California, five days per week. Occasional flexibility across time zones (UK and India) will be required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience with broad exposure across multiple HR functions
- Experience working within a growing organization of 200–500 employees with responsibility across multiple HR facets
- Experience managing and developing a team of 2–3+ people
- Strong experience across HR operations, employee relations, performance management, compensation, payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee lifecycle management
- Experience owning or significantly contributing to performance management and compensation review processes
- Experience supporting employees and managers across multiple locations and time zones
- Strong understanding of U.S. employment practices and multi-state HR compliance
- Experience using modern HR technology (HRIS, payroll, benefits, performance management systems)
- Comfortable leveraging automation, integrations, AI, and emerging technologies to streamline HR workflows
- Strong judgment and ability to independently navigate complex employee and organizational situations
- Experience partnering directly with executives and senior leaders
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities
- Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to work five days per week in Sunnyvale office
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside traditional hours to support UK and India teams

- Experience in high-growth technology or startup environments
- Experience supporting an international employee population
- Direct HR experience supporting teams in UK and/or India
- Experience managing a distributed or international HR team
- Experience scaling organizations through the 200–500+ employee stage
- Experience implementing, migrating, or optimizing HR technology and systems
- Experience building or significantly improving performance management, compensation, leveling, or promotion frameworks
- Experience using AI and automation to modernize HR operations
