You will join the People Operations team in Mexico City as a Senior HR Generalist, serving as both a hands-on contributor and strategic thought partner. This hybrid role (2 days on-site per week) combines tactical HR operations with systems-level process improvement and strategic people initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
**Thought Partnership & Systems Thinking:** Act as a strategic advisor to People Operations leadership on workflow optimization, systems, and vendor partnerships. Map end-to-end processes (benefits, leave, onboarding, offboarding, help desk), identify inefficiencies and failure points, and design improvements using automation and AI. Spot trends from requests and audit findings to prioritize improvements. Help define work division between internal teams, managed services providers, and external partners. Evaluate new tools, vendors, and automation opportunities.
**HR Policy, Compliance & SOPs:** Draft, maintain, and interpret HR policies in partnership with People Partners, ensuring consistency across global locations. Build and maintain SOPs, wikis, and knowledge base content structured for repeatability and AI-assisted self-service. Support HR compliance including reporting, filings, audit inquiries, and documentation. Monitor employment law changes across locations and work with Legal and People Partners to update policies. Review recurring processes for compliance gaps (leave, I-9, E-Verify, recordkeeping).
**Program & Project Support:** Provide project management for new People systems and platform rollouts, including requirements gathering, vendor coordination, testing, system integration, launch communications, and post-launch support. Coordinate performance and promotion cycles. Partner with People Partners, Legal, Finance, and IT on change management and enablement. Maintain project trackers and build recurring People reporting (workforce, leave, compliance).
**People Operations Support:** Process and validate onboarding, offboarding, and employee data changes in Workday. Triage help desk requests, resolve what you can, and route others appropriately. Support benefits, leave, and absence questions on a global scale.
**Partnership & Flexibility:** Work closely with People Partners to handle tactical work efficiently. Flex across priorities as needs change. Support and mentor less experienced teammates, including reviewing AI-generated output and documenting AI usage.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of broad HR and People Operations experience (HR generalist, HR operations, benefits, leave, HRIS, onboarding, programs), ideally in fast-growing, global, or technology companies
- Systems thinking approach: ability to map processes, identify root causes, redesign workflows, and move between tactical and strategic thinking

- Clear written and spoken English communication (Spanish a plus); ability to communicate with leaders and build trust with employees, managers, vendors, and partners
- Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and sound judgment with confidential information
- Self-starter who can prioritize competing requests, work through ambiguity, and seek help appropriately
- Ability to work from Mexico City office at least 2 days per week
- Occasional travel to California for team events
**Nice to Have:**
- Experience with managed benefits services providers or PEOs
