Group Finance is undergoing a transformation to accelerate month-end close, strengthen balance sheet control, and automate core accounting processes across a multi-entity, multi-currency group. Reporting to the General Ledger Manager, you will take ownership of key components of the group close and balance sheet, act as a technical accounting resource, and drive process improvement and automation initiatives. This role offers genuine autonomy, direct collaboration with senior finance leadership, and the opportunity to shape how a listed fintech runs its financial control function.
Key responsibilities include: owning key elements of the group month-end close (prepayment, accrual, payroll journals, intercompany, FX, and balance sheet revaluations across multiple entities and currencies); preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations in line with group policy and materiality thresholds; performing intercompany reviews of postings, reconciliations, and settlements; supporting FX accounting and strengthening end-to-end FX processes and controls; driving process improvement and automation initiatives using Dynamics 365 and AI-enabled tools; providing support for half-year reviews and year-end audits; collaborating with broader finance teams including Financial Control, New Products, Statutory Reporting, and Finance Transformation; and deputizing for the General Ledger Manager as required.
Success is measured by: reliable close delivery within agreed timetables with minimal rework; timely and fully substantiated balance sheet reconciliations with clear action plans for ageing items; effective identification and resolution of intercompany and FX issues; meaningful process improvements reducing manual effort and risk; and independent operation with clear communication and reliable GL Manager cover.
REQUIREMENTS:

- Professional experience: Qualified accountant with approximately 2-4 years' post-qualification experience
- Background: Audit-trained (ideally at a top-tier firm) and/or experience within FinTech, payments, or broader Financial Services
- Technical accounting: Strong double-entry and month-end close fundamentals; experience with complex group structures, multiple entities and currencies, intercompany accounting, and balance sheet substantiation
- Systems and data: Hands-on ERP experience (Dynamics 365 highly desirable), advanced Excel, and confidence handling large, intricate data sets; interest in automation and AI-enabled finance tools
- Controls mindset: Controls-first approach, comfortable documenting processes, applying reconciliation policies and thresholds, and supporting audit and ICFR-style requirements
- Personal attributes: Takes genuine ownership, works to tight deadlines, communicates clearly with senior stakeholders, and challenges the status quo constructively
- Desirable: Strong academic background, ideally including a university degree in business, accountancy, or related discipline
