You'll join a small, dynamic team building cloud-managed access control systems—Verkada's second major product line. This is a startup-within-a-startup environment with significant ownership and autonomy. The Access Control solution enables users to manage doors, schedules, and credentials from laptop or phone, and you'll work alongside firmware, backend, and frontend engineers to develop and scale this product.
In this role, you'll take less-than-fully-fleshed-out product ideas and drive them to completion, focusing on delivering best-in-class products and experiences rather than just features. You'll own major frontend systems, tackle complex problems with no clear answers, and grow with a fast-moving organization.
You bring 7+ years of software engineering experience with deep mastery of JavaScript (scoping, closures, contexts, prototypes, classes) and expert-level React skills. You have strong architectural understanding of custom components, custom UI, and cross-browser support, plus an eye for design, product details, and polish. You understand HTTP, practical debugging, and have working knowledge of at least one server-side framework and database system. A CS or related engineering degree is required. You must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week in San Mateo.
