Salary: USD 160,000 - 200,000 / annual
Via is transforming public transportation through technology, serving hundreds of agency partners globally. As a Senior Flutter Engineer on the rider mobile team, you'll own the mobile experience that millions of riders depend on daily—from booking rides and account management to the underlying mobile infrastructure.
You'll work across Flutter (primary), native Android (Kotlin), and iOS (Swift), making pragmatic architectural decisions about when to use cross-platform versus native approaches. Key responsibilities include developing and improving Via's rider mobile apps across platforms, building features for booking, account management, and the core rider journey while maintaining fast, reliable, and intuitive experiences. You'll architect and evolve mobile infrastructure services, optimize app performance and memory management, diagnose and resolve critical production issues under pressure, and mentor team members by sharing expertise and providing thoughtful code reviews.
You bring 5+ years of mobile development experience with strong hands-on Flutter expertise and solid native development in Android or iOS. You're comfortable working across both cross-platform and native codebases and have a strong grasp of mobile app architecture patterns, performance optimization, and concurrent programming (Kotlin Coroutines, Swift async-await, Dart async patterns). You're experienced with Location Services, Google Maps API, and third-party mapping tools like Mapbox. You're a natural collaborator and mentor who takes ownership, shares knowledge generously, and makes engineers around you better. You're proactive, genuinely curious about new technologies, and bring energy and ideas to the team.
This is a hybrid role with expectation of 2-3 days per week onsite in NYC.
