The Financial Reporting & Control team is responsible for preparing Tide's key financial reports and implementing controls to safeguard financial integrity. As Senior Financial Controller, you will report to the Lead Financial Controller and take ownership of credit products and credit risk areas across Tide's operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Controllership of proprietary credit offerings across three Tide Capital companies with varying credit products
- Ownership of month-end processes for P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow reporting
- Documenting and reviewing loss provisioning policies for credit risk, fraud, disputes, negative balances, and other risk costs
- Monitoring and reporting credit risk performance and adequacy of provisioning coefficients
- Ensuring strong control of APPF fraud legislation with accurate P&L representation and monthly balance sheet substantiation
- Managing reporting of overdrawn account balances with accurate monthly P&L and balance sheet substantiation
- Collaborating with Credit Services, product, and operations teams to ensure correct transaction recording
- Supporting introduction of new credit lending and investment products
- Working with collections teams on overdue loan payment analysis and recovery performance
- Collaborating with monitoring, operations, and risk teams on cost of risk reporting (credit portfolio, negative balances, fraud, disputes, chargebacks)
- Supporting FP&A team with credit portfolio analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
- Representing finance at Credit Risk Working Group and Risk and Compliance Committee
- Building robust financial control processes and strengthening internal controls
- Maintaining strong balance sheet controls with monthly substantiation
- Managing relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and accounting advisors
- Collating financial data for corporation tax preparation and compliance
- Identifying opportunities to streamline accounting processes, operations, and systems
The role is hybrid with expectation to attend Old Street offices at least one day per week. Tide offers flexible working arrangements supporting both in-person and remote work.
Requirements:
- Experience in financial services, preferably in technology-driven and scale-up environments
- Essential: experience with credit products and provisioning for credit risk
- Strong financial acumen and excellent technical accounting skills
- Familiarity with accounting standards and disclosure requirements under UK GAAP and/or IFRS
- Experience with statutory audit of financial services companies
- Professional finance qualification required
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work with minimal hands-on management
