Spot & Tango is a VC-backed, high-growth e-commerce startup delivering personalized, subscription-based meal plans for dogs made with human-grade ingredients. The company is on a mission to make every dog in the country healthier and every pet parent happier.
You will join the Finance team as a Senior Financial Analyst, bringing 2–5 years of experience from investment banking, management consulting, private equity, venture capital, or corporate finance. This role extends well beyond traditional FP&A, offering meaningful ownership and broad exposure across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
**Financial Planning & Analysis:** Lead annual budgeting, long-range planning, and rolling forecasts by coordinating department inputs and building supporting schedules. Analyze monthly financial performance to explain business drivers and identify risks and opportunities. Partner with Accounting during month-end close on accruals, reconciliations, and flux analysis. Conduct monthly cross-functional reviews with business leaders to update forecasts and surface efficiency improvements. Build and maintain sophisticated financial models for customer acquisition, retention, marketing, operating expenses, headcount, and cash flow. Own HQ G&A expense stewardship and co-lead budget-vs-actual and forecast-vs-actual reviews.
**Business Partnership & Strategic Analysis:** Partner with corporate departments to support strategic decision-making using rigorous data and analysis. Build scenario analyses and business cases for commercial decisions. Challenge assumptions, surface trade-offs, and influence decisions through analytical rigor. Provide ad hoc financial analysis for strategic initiatives, investment requests, cost optimization, and organizational changes. Deliver financial insights impacting customer acquisition, retention, inventory planning, and new business cases. Leverage Excel, AI-enabled tools, and BI platforms to improve reporting speed and scalability.
**Executive Support:** Prepare executive, board, and lender reporting materials. Contribute to ad hoc strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives. Support Finance transformation by improving models, processes, and automation.
You bring exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills, a strong grasp of financial statements and accounting fundamentals, and intellectual curiosity to understand the "why" behind the numbers. A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline is required.
