Scopely is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the MONOPOLY GO! finance team in Culver City, CA on a hybrid basis. This role combines operational finance execution with a mandate to build automation and AI-driven tools across the FP&A function.
You will own the game's recurring operational finance activities, including month-end close, accruals, headcount tracking, purchase orders, Workday approvals, and travel & expense visibility. This is explicitly a build-oriented role with autonomy and a dedicated budget for tools and experimentation. Over time, you will help advance an AI-native approach to FP&A, connecting close, planning, reporting, and approvals so routine work runs more efficiently and the team can focus on higher-value judgment.
You will serve as the primary Finance business partner to the Engineering organization, acting as the main point of contact for spending, headcount, and planning. You will work closely with Finance Managers, the VP of Finance for MONOPOLY GO!, and cross-functional partners across the business (People & Talent, Business Operations, Customer Support, QA), with strong senior-level support as you ramp.
Key responsibilities:
- Run the OpEx close cadence: month-end close, accruals, reclasses, headcount reconciliation, PO/Workday approvals, and T&E—accurately, on time, and independently.
- Build automation: replace manual reporting with automated workflows and dashboards; apply AI thoughtfully across close, planning, reporting, and approvals.
- Partner with Engineering: help them understand and plan spend and headcount; work with other functions to gather budget inputs and explain OpEx variances clearly.
- Think in systems: connect steps across finance so processes get simpler over time, with sensible checks where judgment matters.
- Maintain trustworthy models: keep revenue/cost and workforce-planning models current, reconciled, and defensible for leadership.
The role offers significant autonomy, exposure to senior leadership, and a clear path into complex modeling, financial storytelling, and broader scope across Scopely's portfolio. MONOPOLY GO! is the biggest mobile game launch in history, captivating millions of players worldwide.
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of finance/analytical experience, ideally in FP&A or finance at a brand-name technology or high-growth company.
- Hands-on FP&A foundation: planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and real close/reporting cadence experience; ability to hit the ground running.
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; ability to build and maintain revenue/cost models and handle large datasets independently.
- An automation habit: track record of automating manual reporting or finance processes; interest in applying AI to real work. Experience with BigQuery, SQL, Python, or AI tools is a big plus.
- Operational reliability: dependable, detail-accurate delivery on recurring, high-volume work.
- Clear communication: ability to explain numbers and variances to non-finance partners.
- Located in, or willing to relocate to, the Los Angeles metro; working on-site/hybrid.
- Ownership and integrity: thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; always looking for ways to add value.
Nice to have:
- Undergraduate degree in engineering (computer, mechanical, electrical, industrial, aerospace, etc.).
- A tool or automation you've built that you can walk through.
- Experience with financial systems such as Oracle and Workday / Workday Adaptive Planning.
- Data platforms (BigQuery, etc.).
- Genuine interest in games, consumer products, or technology-driven businesses.
