Instructure is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to lead financial planning, analysis, and reporting for the R&D organization. In this highly visible role, you will own the P&L process for R&D functions, including headcount planning, cost of goods sold (infrastructure and hosting), and operating expenses. You'll partner closely with engineering and product leadership to build accurate financial plans, drive coordinated resource planning aligned with product roadmaps, and prepare insightful financial reports and dashboards for senior leadership.
Key responsibilities include leading annual planning and forecasting for R&D; analyzing and optimizing cloud infrastructure costs as the business scales; developing repeatable financial processes across the organization; mentoring a senior analyst; and identifying opportunities for AI-driven process improvements in R&D finance workflows. You'll support strategic initiatives with financial modeling and recommendations, and collaborate with corporate FP&A on long-range planning models.
This role requires deep expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and advanced Excel. You'll need to communicate complex financial insights clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and thrive in a collaborative environment with engineering and product teams.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
• 8+ years of experience in FP&A, Engineering Finance, or related field, ideally in high-growth SaaS
• Proven experience in a senior finance role with demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills
• Expert proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and advanced Excel
• Experience partnering with engineering or product teams and familiarity with cloud infrastructure cost drivers (preferred)
