As Senior Engineering Manager for Mortgage, you will lead the entire Mortgage engineering team (16+ engineers) as the head of engineering for this business line. You'll own the platform end-to-end: APIs and integrations, AI/ML models powering verification decisions, and customer-facing product experience. Reporting to the VP of Engineering with direct visibility to executive leadership, you'll operate as a business owner managing the P&L—partnering with product on roadmap, setting technical direction, owning delivery against growth targets, and building the team to scale the mortgage product to the largest lenders in the country.
Key responsibilities include owning the technical roadmap and architecture, partnering with product and business leadership as a peer on strategy and results, reducing technical debt while maintaining delivery speed, representing engineering in annual planning and capacity modeling, managing quality incidents as technical and communication lead, hiring and mentoring engineering talent, and building direct customer relationships.
You'll need 8+ years as an engineering manager and 12+ years as an engineer overall, with experience managing large teams and managing managers. You should have P&L ownership experience, ideally in highly regulated environments, deep understanding of service architecture and system design, strong communication skills translating technical strategy to executives, experience with ML/AI, and an A-player mindset with bias for action and ownership. Familiarity with mortgage lending or comparable regulated industries is a plus.
