BillionToOne, a publicly traded Nasdaq company, is seeking a Senior Director of Software Product Management and Product Engineering to lead a critical organization responsible for building and scaling software products across oncology and prenatal diagnostics businesses.
In this role, you will oversee both the Software Product Management and Software Product Engineering organizations, managing engineering leaders and teams while maintaining strong product and business acumen. You'll be responsible for defining and executing software strategy across multiple customer-facing platforms (provider portals, patient portals) and mission-critical internal systems (variant curation, report generation). This is a hybrid position (3 days/week onsite) reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing both product management and engineering organizations across oncology and prenatal software products
- Defining software product and platform strategy for provider/patient experiences and operational platforms
- Driving an AI-first approach to product development and engineering operations, leveraging modern AI technologies to accelerate development and improve quality
- Identifying opportunities to transform emerging AI capabilities into differentiated customer-facing products
- Partnering with Clinical Product, Data Science, Bioinformatics, IT/IS, Operations, and Commercial teams
- Leading engineering managers and teams responsible for architecture, development, infrastructure, quality, and scalability
- Establishing strong product and engineering operating mechanisms and prioritization processes
- Building a high-performance culture centered on customer obsession, ownership, speed, and technical excellence
- Serving as the company's leading expert on customer workflows and software UX across all systems
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years in software product management, engineering, or technology leadership with increasing organizational responsibility
- Strong product management background with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of complex software products and platforms
- Experience managing software engineering organizations and engineering leaders
- Proven ability to lead both product and engineering functions simultaneously
- Track record building and scaling customer-facing software products and/or complex operational systems
- Strong understanding of software architecture, platform development, system scalability, and engineering tradeoffs
- Experience leveraging AI technologies and AI-enabled development workflows
- Strong product instincts and ability to translate emerging technologies into customer solutions
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to operate strategically in a fast-moving environment
