CoLab is hiring a Senior Director of Brand Marketing to lead and build the brand function across design, multimedia, content, and communications. You will manage an existing team of 6 and establish two new competencies: executive communications and integrated brand campaigns.
CoLab builds AI for mechanical engineering teams designing cars, medical devices, and jet engines. The company helps manufacturers like Bobcat, Triumph Motorcycles, and GE Appliances accelerate product development by capturing design rationale and enabling better decision-making. Founded in 2018 in St. John's, Newfoundland, CoLab has raised $72M in Series C funding, been named the 57th fastest-growing company in North America by Deloitte, and grown to 250+ employees.
In this role, you will:
**Build the brand function and protect standards:** Shape CoLab's brand across all touchpoints, establish operating models and creative processes, develop principles that make the brand distinctive and memorable, and stay close enough to the work to elevate quality without becoming an internal services desk.
**Create memorable campaigns:** Partner with Product Marketing to identify and amplify key ideas, turn complex AI and engineering concepts into bold, integrated campaigns, and build internal support for ambitious creative bets.
**Build executive communications:** Own a cohesive communications strategy for the CEO, CTO, and Chief Strategy Officer across earned media, bylines, social, conferences, and events. Identify ideas each executive can credibly own and create visibility opportunities.
**Develop an exceptional team:** Lead a multidisciplinary team spanning design, video, content, and communications. Give clear feedback, create shared context, and identify where new talent or partners can raise the function's standard.
You are a passionate operator with insanely high standards. You have a brand worldview and beliefs about what makes brands distinctive and memorable. You have taste backed by conviction—you push work further and sweat the details. You know how to win support for ambitious ideas by making the strategic case and getting executives excited to take bigger bets. You move comfortably between setting direction and getting close to the work, caring equally about the big idea and the five-second edit.
**Requirements:**
- 10+ years of experience across brand marketing, creative strategy, communications, design, or related disciplines, including meaningful ownership of a brand or creative function
- A body of work demonstrating distinctive judgment, unusually high standards, and the ability to explain why something works or doesn't
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across design, video, content, communications, production, and campaigns
- Exceptional executive communication skills; ability to challenge ideas, advocate for bigger ones, and earn trust through strategy-grounded point of view
- Ability to move between setting direction and getting close to the work
- Experience making complex or technical subject matter (B2B software, AI, engineering, manufacturing) compelling without oversimplifying
