Shield AI is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to design, build, and operate secure development and deployment infrastructure for autonomy and defence programmes. You will develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines enabling rapid, repeatable, and secure delivery of autonomy and mission-critical software while embedding security throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include applying UK MOD Secure by Design principles, designing development and deployment environments spanning cloud, on-premises infrastructure, laboratory environments, simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and operational platforms. You will implement automated security controls within CI/CD pipelines including static analysis, dependency scanning, container scanning, secrets detection, software composition analysis, and vulnerability management. You'll work closely with software, autonomy, systems, cyber security, integration, and test engineers to establish development environments that support rapid engineering while meeting defence security requirements.
You will champion a DevSecOps culture where software engineers take ownership of security, reliability, deployability, and operational performance of their systems. This role requires significant experience delivering software within UK defence or other highly regulated national security environments, with deep understanding of MOD/NATO approaches to DevSecOps and Secure by Design.
Required qualifications include a BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience), 5+ years in DevOps/DevSecOps/platform engineering/SRE, and substantial experience with UK defence programmes. You must have strong understanding of MOD security policies, security assurance processes, and technical security requirements. Experience with modern CI/CD technologies (Git, GitLab, GitHub), Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, containerisation, and infrastructure automation is essential.
