Altruist is transforming the wealth management industry with an AI platform for financial advisors. The company partners with advisors nationwide to help them grow, optimize resources, and deliver superior client outcomes.
You'll join the Security team as a Senior Detection and Response Engineer, responsible for building and maintaining the detections and response capabilities that identify and stop threats across cloud, endpoints, and identity providers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build, tune, and maintain high-fidelity detections as code across SIEM, cloud, endpoint, and identity telemetry
- Triage and investigate alerts, lead incident response, and conduct proactive threat hunting for low-and-slow and insider threats
- Operationalize threat intelligence and IOC ingestion into detections and edge/WAF rules
- Develop response playbooks and SOAR automation to reduce toil and accelerate containment
- Partner with MDR and IR providers, and run purple-team exercises with red team engineers
- Continuously improve logging coverage and detection efficacy against MITRE ATT&CK framework
You bring 4+ years of hands-on experience in detection engineering, incident response, or threat hunting. You're proficient in authoring detections in modern SIEMs, investigating across AWS, endpoint, and identity data sources, and scripting/automating with Python. A B.A./B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Security (or equivalent experience) is required. You're technically savvy with modern stacks (AWS, Kubernetes, Datadog/Splunk, SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, Terraform), demonstrate strong ownership and communication, and excel at creative problem-solving. Bonus experience includes regulated environments (fintech/financial services) and cyber threat intelligence or insider-threat detection.
The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week onsite in the San Francisco FiDi or Culver City office.
