Ripple is seeking a Senior Derivative Accountant to join its Treasury Managed Services team. In this hands-on technical specialist role, you will serve as the subject matter expert on derivative instruments and hedging relationships across a portfolio of institutional clients. You will own the complete technical accounting lifecycle for derivatives under both ASC 815 (US GAAP) and IFRS 9 standards, including documentation, effectiveness testing, journal entries, and financial statement disclosures.
Key responsibilities include managing end-to-end derivative accounting for interest rate swaps, cross-currency swaps, FX forwards, options, and commodity derivatives across multiple client portfolios. You will prepare and review hedge documentation, designation memos, and risk management objectives. You will execute both quantitative and qualitative effectiveness assessments using regression analysis, dollar-offset methods, and hypothetical derivative techniques on prospective and retrospective bases.
You will apply critical judgment on hedge accounting elections, including fair value hedges, cash flow hedges, and net investment hedges, and handle de-designation scenarios. The role requires translating new FASB and IASB guidance into actionable impact summaries for clients and internal teams. You will lead audit support activities, preparing work product and engaging directly with external auditors on derivative and hedge accounting matters. Additionally, you will strengthen internal methodologies, templates, and technical guidance.
Required qualifications include 5+ years of hands-on experience with derivative instruments and hedge accounting in public accounting, industry, or consulting environments. You must demonstrate deep technical fluency in ASC 815 and IFRS 9, including practical hedge accounting elections and disclosure requirements. Experience with fair value measurement (ASC 820 / IFRS 13) and derivative valuation methodologies is essential. You should be comfortable managing multiple client engagements simultaneously with precision and organizational skills. Strong communication abilities are critical—you must make complex accounting conclusions accessible to non-technical audiences. A CPA is preferred, as is an advanced degree in Accounting or Finance. Experience with hedge accounting platforms such as Ripple Treasury, Chatham Financial, Reval, FIS Quantum, or similar tools is preferred.
