Salary: USD 182,800 - 247,300 / annual
Duolingo is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to embed with product development teams focused on user growth. You will work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Finance to drive data-informed decision-making and deliver measurable impact on product outcomes.
Key responsibilities include embedding within one or more product teams to build strong stakeholder relationships and deliver data products and analyses that move team outcomes. You will own the prioritization and ROI assessment of data science opportunities within your growth area, translate complex findings into clear narratives for leadership and cross-functional partners, and influence strategic decisions through technical depth and effective communication.
You will contribute to analytical foundations within the Growth pillar by developing definitions, methodological guidelines, and self-serve dashboards that enable others to operate with data fluency. You will also mentor and learn from other data scientists both within the Growth pillar and across the company.
Required qualifications include experience working as a data scientist embedded with or supporting a product development team, with proven ability to create value from data in real-world settings. You need exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) to distill complex quantitative work into crisp, actionable insights for diverse audiences. A graduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field is required, or equivalent demonstrated expertise in formal analysis methodology.
You must have strong command of SQL, Python or R, AI tools, and data/analytics engineering ecosystems, plus fluency with standard machine learning and predictive modeling techniques. Exceptional candidates will have experience operating at high-growth, data-intensive consumer technology companies (particularly in user growth), experience building and maintaining production machine learning models and supporting infrastructure, and ideally an impressive Duolingo streak.
