FlixBus is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Commercial & Marketing Intelligence team in Warsaw. In this role, you will own the design, execution, and continuous improvement of causal measurement practices that directly shape how the company allocates its global marketing budget.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and execute geo-based, time-based, and synthetic control experiment frameworks across global markets and channels, ensuring methodological rigor and scalability
- Apply advanced econometric and causal inference techniques (difference-in-differences, synthetic control, Bayesian structural time series) to measure the true incremental effect of marketing activities on bookings and revenue
- Build and manage a structured test-and-learn program across paid channels, identifying measurement gaps and prioritizing experiments by business value
- Contribute to the development and validation of attribution models (CLV-MTA and MMM) to reduce reliance on platform self-reported data
- Translate complex causal findings into clear, actionable recommendations for marketing teams, finance, and senior management
- Review experiment designs, create documentation, and establish internal standards for measuring marketing effectiveness across all channels
You will work closely with teams across Marketing & Sales, Revenue Management, Reporting, and Engineering to ensure incrementality evidence drives smarter, more transparent budget allocation decisions at scale.
Required qualifications:
- Master's or PhD in Statistics, Econometrics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or related quantitative field
- 5+ years in data science or quantitative research with hands-on expertise in causal experiments (geo experiments, time-series holdouts, synthetic control)
- Strong command of causal inference methods and matched market testing
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Power BI, and statistical modeling libraries (statsmodels, PyMC, CausalImpact)
- Experience with version control (Git), reproducible workflows, and cloud/data warehouse environments (BigQuery, Snowflake)
- Proven ability to present statistical findings to non-technical audiences
- Experience in marketing measurement, media mix modeling, or growth reporting is a plus
