Salary: USD 182,800 - 247,300 / annual
Join Duolingo's Growth Data Science team as a Senior Data Scientist focused on user growth forecasting. You'll collaborate with peers and cross-functional partners in Product, Finance, and Strategy to develop and deliver business-critical quarterly forecasts that drive strategic decision-making.
In this role, you will mentor junior data scientists, ensuring forecasts remain trustworthy and reliably delivered. You'll work with diverse stakeholders to develop forecasts reflecting deep understanding of product development, strategic bets, and evolving business priorities. A key responsibility is translating complex analytical findings into clear narratives for senior leadership, influencing strategic decisions through technical depth and effective communication.
You'll drive methodological advances to forecasting capabilities, developing and validating new approaches that align with business priorities. You'll also build systems and processes ensuring the forecasting workflow is robust, repeatable, and scalable across Duolingo's half-billion-user base.
Required qualifications include industry experience building forecasts in real-world settings, a graduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field (or equivalent demonstrated expertise). You must demonstrate ability to connect technical results to business recommendations and translate product/business changes into technical requirements. Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, AI analysis tools, and data/analytics engineering ecosystems is essential, along with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional candidates will have experience at high-growth consumer technology companies with specific user growth forecasting background, experience at public companies with investor-grade reporting demands, and ideally an impressive Duolingo learning streak.
