Socure is building identity trust infrastructure for the digital economy, verifying identities in real time and preventing fraud at scale. As a Senior Data Scientist on the Document Verification team, you will drive machine learning innovation across fraud detection, document verification, biometric verification, and image quality assessment.
You will own the full ML lifecycle: designing and developing production models, researching new features and modeling approaches, and partnering with Engineering to deploy and continuously improve systems. You'll analyze product performance, fraud trends, and emerging attack vectors using offline and production datasets. Model evaluation is core to the role—you'll measure precision, recall, FAR/FRR, and business impact, then develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor model health and operational metrics.
Beyond modeling, you'll build tools and automation for model evaluation, performance monitoring, labeling workflows, and fraud investigations. You'll develop self-service analytics and experimentation frameworks, and improve the analytics infrastructure supporting the team's work.
Cross-functional collaboration is essential. You'll partner with Product, Engineering, Fraud Operations, and Solutions Engineering to translate business needs into data-driven solutions, communicating technical findings and influencing product and modeling decisions.
Required: MS/PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related field. 5+ years in machine learning, data science, fraud analytics, or product analytics. Strong production ML model development and evaluation experience. Expert-level SQL and Python. Experience with Databricks, Spark, AWS SageMaker, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of experimentation, statistical analysis, and ML evaluation.
Preferred: Computer vision, deep learning, or transformer-based models. A/B testing and online experimentation design. Product KPI definition and performance dashboards.
