Komodo Health is building the Healthcare Map, the industry's largest and most complete view of the U.S. healthcare system by combining de-identified real-world patient data with innovative algorithms and clinical expertise. The company helps healthcare partners unlock critical insights to track patient behaviors, identify care gaps, and reduce disease burden.
You will join the Research team within Engineering, which ensures that analytical and statistical methods powering Komodo's data products are rigorous, reliable, and grounded in sound research methodology. This team operates at the intersection of engineering, data science, and health services research.
In this role, you will take ownership of projection model quality—the statistical models that translate observed claims into national and subnational market estimates. You will evaluate model performance where ground truth is scarce, engage with customers to address their questions and concerns, and contribute to model design and implementation alongside engineering partners. Your work sits at the core of how customers trust and act on Komodo's market-level insights.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyze large-scale healthcare data using SQL and Python or R to assess projection model inputs, outputs, and behavior across therapeutic areas and geographies
- Design and run evaluation studies, constructing benchmarks and uncertainty quantification, and build diagnostic tooling for fast model assessment and debugging
- Triage and investigate customer questions; reproduce reported issues, form hypotheses, and isolate root causes through systematic analysis
- Prepare and deliver clear methodological explanations—briefs, walkthroughs, and direct customer discussions—that translate model mechanics into actionable answers
- Review and contribute to model code, specifications, and design documents in partnership with product engineering; validate changes before and after release
- Maintain methodology documentation and evaluation reports; track model behavior across data refreshes and releases, flagging emerging issues early
You will become the go-to expert on Komodo's national and subnational projection models, establish rigorous evaluation practices and diagnostic tooling, resolve customer-raised anomalies through systematic investigation, and contribute to model design and validation in partnership with engineering.
