Coinbase is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Consumer team, driving data-informed product decisions across spot and advanced trading, yield products, Coinbase One, international expansion, and new launches like prediction markets and equities trading.
You will own a broad scope of data and metrics, from core logging infrastructure to polished visualizations. Your responsibilities include defining key performance indicators, building measurement and causal inference frameworks, and translating analytical insights directly into product strategy and shipped improvements. You'll drive deep-dive analyses on ambiguous business problems, delivering actionable recommendations that guide team decision-making.
Technically, you'll lead code reviews, contribute SQL and Python expertise, and maintain reliable ETL pipelines. You'll uphold high statistical rigor standards, ensuring experimentation and causal analyses build genuine stakeholder confidence. You'll synthesize complex data into compelling narratives that influence product and business strategy.
Coinbase is a remote-first but not remote-only company. Expect quarterly in-person "surge" sessions for intensive collaborative work. The environment is high-intensity and mission-driven, focused on increasing economic freedom through cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
Required: BA/BS in a quantitative field (Math, Stats, Physics, CS, or equivalent) with 5+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 3+ years. Proven track record delivering impactful data science work in ambiguous spaces. Professional proficiency in SQL and Python. Experience with digital products in iterative development cycles. Strong communication, positive energy, continuous learning mindset, and efficient execution. Comfort using generative AI tools responsibly with human-in-the-loop practices.
