Polymarket is a peer-to-peer prediction market platform enabling users to trade on real-world outcomes across politics, economics, sports, and current affairs. The company has facilitated $115B in trading volume and is positioned as an alternative news source reflecting collective expectations about future events.
As Senior Data Scientist / Analyst for Institutional relationships, you will own analytics for the market makers, large takers, and brokerages that drive disproportionate platform volume. You'll be the internal expert on counterparty performance, trading behavior, and relationship health.
Key responsibilities include: building account-level views of major counterparties (volume, flow composition, spread capture, fee/rebate economics, trends); monitoring counterparty health and surfacing concentration risk or churn signals; analyzing trading behavior to understand how participants monetize the platform and whether current terms remain competitive; supporting institutional team reviews and negotiations with rigorous analysis; quantifying institutional flow impact on broader market liquidity and retail experience; collaborating with analytics engineers to automate recurring relationship reporting; and maintaining clear documentation enabling team-wide knowledge transfer.
You'll operate at the intersection of technical rigor and commercial acumen—comfortable analyzing order-level data while explaining relationship implications to senior stakeholders. The role requires understanding professional market-making economics (spread capture, adverse selection, inventory risk, liquidity provision) and credibility in technical conversations with sophisticated counterparties.
Required: 7+ years in analytics, trading, or counterparty analysis (ideally at exchanges, trading venues, brokerages, or market-making firms); expert SQL for order book and transaction-level analysis; deep knowledge of professional participant economics; ability to articulate relationship value and negotiation leverage; strong communication and discretion with sensitive information; comfort in fast-moving environments with frequent business logic changes.
Preferred: institutional pricing or rebate program design experience; on-chain or blockchain analytics familiarity; Python or R for statistical trading behavior analysis; fintech, crypto, prediction market, or data-intensive financial product background.
