Okta is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Enterprise Data Platform team, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Enterprise Data Platform. This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on building the data infrastructure that powers Okta's internal AI use cases with AI-ready data.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining performant data pipelines and data models using Snowflake, AWS, and dbt
- Implementing security and governance frameworks to ensure high compliance and security standards
- Developing automated solutions for data classification, access control, and vulnerability management
- Using infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD tools (GitHub/GitLab) to build, test, and deploy data infrastructure securely
- Championing best practices in code quality, system design, and operational readiness
- Collaborating with product managers, senior engineers, and analytics teams to deliver high-quality data solutions
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of data engineering experience with focus on building data pipelines, data models, and data platforms
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, or similar) and AWS
- Solid understanding of data pipeline and orchestration tools like dbt, Airflow, or Fivetran
- Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform
- Experience implementing security controls and understanding of data governance principles
- Proven track record of working effectively in team environments with product managers, analysts, and engineers
- Ability to tackle well-defined technical problems and deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions
