amo is seeking a Senior Data Generalist to build and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines that power the company's data infrastructure. You will own the design and operation of production data systems, moving data safely into archival and data lake storage while ensuring observability at every step.
Key responsibilities include improving the quality, reliability, and observability of derived datasets; designing comprehensive validations for freshness, completeness, schema correctness, and data quality; and building reusable datasets that reduce repetitive extraction and aggregation work across the organization. You'll optimize queries and data processing jobs for correctness, latency, and cost, and prototype solutions in the right tools before integrating scoped production experiments with amo's systems.
You must bring senior-level experience building and operating data pipelines in production environments. Strong proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, along with hands-on production experience with Python or Scala. You should have substantial experience with the modern data stack: PySpark, Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, Parquet, and Iceberg. A deep understanding of batch and stream processing, query optimization, and distributed data systems is required. Familiarity with data lakes, table and storage formats, and derived datasets rounds out the core skill set.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with Flink or similar stream processing systems, ML training or inference pipelines, ranking/recommendations/embeddings/entity resolution, privacy-sensitive data systems and GDPR workflows, and experience with Rust-backed systems.
amo operates on a 5-day onsite model in a central Paris location near Opéra (Metro lines 3, 8, 9, and RER A). The company offers comprehensive benefits including 100% health care coverage, maintained salary during parental leave, and 8-9 weeks of vacation annually (5 weeks statutory, 1-2 weeks RTT, plus ~11 bank holidays). The company shuts down for two weeks in summer and one week in winter to ensure genuine rest and disconnection.
